Ever step foot into a salon and you wanted to live there? These were my exact feelings when I first entered Tribe. Tribe is a style bar and salon boutique located in Chadds Ford, Pennyslvania. It pretty much looks like you’ve walked into Anthropologie the minute you step inside but with its own bright and boho mix. After my good friend Carly, raved about her experience here, I knew I had to visit. I had also recently got balayage done to my hair for the first time and was looking for a refresh.
I knew I wanted balayage again so it was just a matter of which stylist to go to. After checking out their website, everyone looked amazing. After reading a little bit about all of the stylists on their website, I realized the stylist Nikole had so many of the “power moves” that I was looking for: free hand balayage and beach waves. This was pretty much a match made in heaven.
After meeting Nikole and showing her some of my hair muse’s, I knew I was in good hands. The minute I met her I felt right at ease and could tell she understood the exact look I was going for. What I love about balayage is that it is less maintenance that typical foils. It is also perfect for someone like me that loves to be blonde but has darker roots. I also dig the beachy effortless look it gives.
Watching Nikole do my hair was like an artist painting a picture. I was amazed how she knew exactly what hair to paint as she did everything free hand. We also had a blast getting to know each other as she was so easy going.
I also had some time to talk to the owner of Tribe, Emily. Emily was seriously one of the most down to earth and sweetest girls I have met. She told me how she had initially began her business doing freelance hair and makeup with her sister. After that, they opened their first Tribe in Kenneth Square until her sister moved to VA beach. Once she moved away, Emily’s husband and her continued growing the business until they realized they wanted to expand. It all came together when they found a spot in their dream location: Chadds Ford. From that point on, together they have built the Tribe brand with a focus on easy, natural, and effortless style. Not to mention, sheEmily has incredible style and is an amazing makeup artist.
I was also so impressed with the Brands that Tribe works with and truly believes in. I had never used Kevin Murphy before and am officially obsessed. All his products are designed to not only make your hair healthy and strong but they are sulfate free, paraben free, and cruelty free. They also smell crazy good that you’ll actually be excited for the days you wash your hair. They also carry Becca Cosmetics which I was sold on from the moment I asked Emily what she used for her own makeup. I am constantly after that natural, dewy look and was excited to try a new foundation that would last throughout the school day.
If you are looking for a new salon or stylist, need your makeup done, have a special event coming up, or wanting your hair styled for the night, Tribe is your place. I truly left loving everything about my hair and experience. I am even considering asking Emily if I can also work at Tribe when I am not teaching because I loved the atmosphere and the girls so much. You can even book your appointment online here which makes it so easy.
Let me know if you go and if you have any questions! I’ve seriously found my forever salon home at Tribe.
Thank you so much to the Tribe family and Emily for having me!
